A bit about this shoot:
Model Christine MacGibbon and I met up in our local Chapters to talk about design and decide what we wanted this shoot to look like. Sitting on the floor surrounded by magazines and books we were thinking a lot about Film Noir, classic old Hollywood beauties and a simpler time when fatal attraction was believable, and undieing lust at first sight. The recent Gucci ads were a huge inspiration, they were projecting all sorts of images of the very models that were in the shoot in the background of their images. Fantastic! Certainly not a new idea, but commercially not done very often. I thought I’d like to project colours and patterns, vibrant greens and shades of purples and magenta. When it came down to the day of the shoot I’d created a huge stock of images to project. We even used an image I created of blue leopard print that had some ribbons of yellow running through it! The projections were truly exciting, however only a few of them would actually show up when projected, only the most vibrant, and colourful! Perfect! That’s just I was hoping for anyways, I love when things don’t work, but still end up working in your favor!

With styling from the fantastic Tasha Farrington of Pretty Deadly Stylz and the many fantastic designers she pulled from such as Equeglitz, who provided the bow ties that our male model Cameron Rowley wore, to the beautiful dress by Little White Dress that Christine is wearing in the picture that was used as the first page of the spread. Jewelry was provided by Belle Boutique who we’ve used a number of times and they never cease to impress.

Another member of my trusted and true team is Sharon Burke who provided the hair styling for this shoot. Always fantastic and the perfect choice for the old Hollywood styling, and definitely an excellent pair with Andrew Elek’s makeup styling who’s always right on trend.

And of course, what is any good shoot without good catering? We were so thankful to have Sweetcakes Cupcakery to keep us rushing with sugar and deliciousness until the wee hours of the morning.

The winner was Aleia Sheehy who won the  contest with a cushy 189 vote lead on the runner ups with a photo that was more than just a pretty face, but also a message about conquering your demons and battling the nasty words people can say that hurt.

Runners ups, Kristal Jones and Hailee Doreen Clinton were awarded with 20% off of a headshot package.

Photoshoot Giveaway – Rules and Regulations

You could be the very lucky winner of a portrait photoshoot giveaway with photographer Nadia Papineau. Keep reading to see if you qualify to take part in this competitive giveaway!

RULES – how to participate

1. Once the contest has been opened to submissions, email your a picture of yourself to: mail@nadiapapineau.com

Include in your email:
- Picture of yourself
- First and Last Name
- Age
- Parental consent if under the age of 18

2. Picture provided must be a photograph of the person hoping to win the contest to be photographed by Nadia Papineau.
Submitted photograph is provided by the contestant and must be a photograph of themselves or submitted on behalf of someone they manage or are the caretaker for. If the person is underage they must have consent from their parent or guardian. If the photograph is submitted by a manager they must have consent and provide that consent from the person who it is will be entering the contest.

3. Pictures can be submitted from Wednesday  January 11th, 2012 at 3:00 PM EST until Febuary 1st, 2012 at 2:00 PM EST. (Exactly 2 weeks, less 1 hour) for submissions. The contest will be open for voting during the time submissions will be taken, new contestants can still email in pictures to take part in the contest during that time, however they will not have the same head start that competitors have who submitted during the first 2 weeks of presubmissions.

4. Once all of the pictures have been collected from the presubmissions, they will be submitted to a Facebook album on the Nadia L Papineau Facebook  (http://www.facebook.com/nadiaphoto) called “Photoshoot Giveaway Vote Here”.
All photos that have been emailed in, with the appropriate information provided will be uploaded to the album.

5. Contestants with photos in the ”Photoshoot Giveaway Vote Here” album can have their friends Vote on their picture by “Like”ing the picture. The picture with the most “Likes” by the end of the contest will be the winner of the photoshoot giveaway.

6. Contestants can “Share” the link to their photo on their Facebook walls, but putting a link to the Nadia L Papineau Facebook and directing them to the appropriate folder would be in their best benefits so they can have their friends vote (“like”) directly on the contestant’s photo in the “Photoshoot Giveaway Vote Here” album.

7. Votes that are outside of the “Photoshoot Giveaway Vote Here” album will not be counted, and thus, do not qualify.
It is the contestant’s obligation to make sure their friends are voting in the appropriate location.

8. The winner will be announced February 14th 2012  at 3PM EST.

REGULATIONS  - the specifics of the photoshoot

1.  Winner of the photoshoot giveaway can live anywhere in the world, however, they must find their own way to the photoshoot which will be in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.*

2.  Photoshoot must be scheduled within 1 month (30 days) of the contest completion date when the winner is announced. If the winner doesn’t schedule a date with the photographer within that time, the prize will be forfeited and the next runner up will be awarded the photoshoot

3. Photoshoot must take place / be redeemed within a year of the contest completion date, on a mutually agreed date and time. The location of the photoshoot will be determined by the photographer. (of course, mutually agreed upon locations are allowed)
Set design / backgrounds, are to be determined by the photographer. Again, mutually agreed upon sets, locations, concepts are allowed).
Photoshoot is limited to a 2 hour block of time.

4. Winner will be provided with 2 fully edited print worthy digital files at any size they request.** Files will be given either via digital transfer (email, dropbox, etc) or via CD which can be picked up at a mutually agreeable time.
The winner of the contest will be able to print*** their photos wherever they choose, however, if they would like to know where to go to get beautiful professional quality prints of their photographs, recommendations can be made.

5. Creative licences and copyright of the images photographed will be owned, and are sole property of the photographer, Nadia Papineau.
If images are to be used for advertising purposes, or for the winner to make money off of, that will have to be discussed with the photographer first and the winner will have to purchase the rights to the photograph. (examples of this would be CD covers, clothing, products for sale, etc.)

6. It is up to the contest winner to provide their own hair stylist, makeup, wardrobe styling. Very talented artists can be recommended if the winner is hoping to obtain such services.

Fine Print
*if the winner should not be able to travel to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, they will be able to redeem their photoshoot by arranging for the photographer, Nadia Papineau, and photography assistant, to fly to the winner’s location. Return flight must be provided as well.
**winner of the photoshoot can request their digital files are provided to them at specific sizes, however the winner must be able to provide the sizes before the photographer, Nadia Papineau has finished editing the photos and they will only be able to request photos in 3 different sizes.
***prints can be provided by photographer, Nadia Papineau, and are available at a very reasonable rate.
